Getting this text from my wife felt like a punch to the gut.

Because while my first born was walking for the very first time in his life…

A moment in our family that will never happen again…
I was sitting in a cubicle.

Stuck at a job that made me miserable. 

The worst part is that it wasn’t just this one moment that I missed.

I was literally “watching” my kids grow up via text message.

(My son’s first steps. The first time my daughter crawled. Pictures of them playing at the park, making friends. Quick videos of them coming up with creative games in the backyard. It was killing me not to be there.)

You see, when I woke up every morning, I had to rush out the door to sit in traffic to be on time for morning meetings.

By the time I wrapped up all the emails with the subject line: “One last thing. Must get done today!”…

And raced across town to make it home…

My kids were usually already asleep.

I was missing the whole dang thing.

What’s interesting is that even my clients without jobs…

The ones who decided NOT to climb the corporate ladder and start their own business…

They were facing the same issue.

THEIR TIME WAS NOT THEIR OWN.

Why? Because they have so much WORK to do. So many clients to keep happy.
